Overview NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included. The Alcohol and Drug Recovery Inpatient ward/unit is a multidisciplinary environment, consisting of Addiction Psychiatry, Psychologists, Pharmacists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Addiction Nurses, and Administrative staff.

The ward/unit aims to deliver safe, effective and high-quality care and treatment to individuals with complex alcohol and/or drug dependency and associated risks. The Inpatient ward/unit works in partnership with patients, families, carers and other agencies to ensure care needs are prioritized and care transitions are safely achieved. Each patient has a Named Nurse who develops a participative, therapeutic relationship with the patient and carers and delivers high quality nursing care in an environment where patients feel safe, secure and valued and where confidentiality is respected.

You must have a live NMC UK pin to be considered for this post. Position Details Duration, Location and Working Pattern: This is a permanent post working full-time hours (36). Hours are worked over a long day and night shift rotation.

You will be based within Kershaw Inpatients, Gartnavel Royal Hospital, 1055 Great Western Road, G12 0XH. Key Responsibilities As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will work in partnership with colleagues across all disciplines, demonstrating compassionate and caring behaviours to support the key functions of the inpatient ward/unit. You will be responsible for the assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care programmes, using a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach that actively involves the individual in their care.

You will undertake duties without direct supervision, working collaboratively with patients, carers, and other professionals and agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. Participation in regular nurse supervision and line management will be a key part of your role. You will also take responsibility for supervising the practice of others, undertaking mentorship and preceptorship duties, and contributing to the ongoing learning and development of the wider staff team.

Caring is central to all nursing services and you should ensure that the core values of nursing underpin your practice, promoting positive, inclusive, and equitable engagement with patients, families and carers, keeping them at the heart of everything you do. Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience You are a Registered Mental Health Nurse with current Level 1 registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You are educated to a minimum of degree level or can demonstrate equivalent experience.

You can provide evidence of active and ongoing Continuing Professional Development. You have working knowledge and practical application of physical and/or mental health nursing care. You have working knowledge and application of risk assessment, including factors impacting physical and mental health, wellbeing and recovery.

You can demonstrate experience of supervision and reflective practice. You have knowledge of values-based practice and relevant legislative frameworks.
