Job Description PURPOSE OF THE JOB: § Effective and efficient management of Logistics and supply chain operations resulting in enhanced service levels and optimum spend. Building and managing a robust and agile transportation network Pan India. KEY FOCUS AREAS: · Logistics Spend Management in the area of transport management · Contracting and Transport commercial Management all legs of primary transportation · Ensuring timely availability of trucks for dispatch · Transit Schedule adherence · Statutory compliance in Transportation PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Transport Management § Plan, Organize and manage daily operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods. § Finalizing the Transportation Plan Category wise. Ensure that transportation of stocks happen, involving least possible cost but ensuring safety of the stocks. § Lead and facilitate Annual Freight Negotiations for all legs of transportation. Negotiate contracts with carriers and suppliers to secure favorable terms and rates. § Work with the Business on the Network and Budget the Transportation Costs during annual budgeting process. § Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize routes, reduce costs, and improve service levels. § Analyze transportation costs and provide reports to management with recommendations for cost improvements. § Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscapes, customer needs and emerging technologies to improve transportation processes. Explore the alternative means of transport like rail, multimodal transport, etc., § Develop and implement innovative pricing models considering factors such as operational cost, market demand and customer segmentation. § Monitor and Analyze arrival conditions of stocks at Warehouses/ manufacturing units and develops operating procedures & ensures training to WSP / Transporters to ensure improved delivered quality. § Monitoring and control the actual Transportation spend against the planned budget. § Review and work with MIS team for data analysis, resource optimization and KPI improvements. § Ensure Marketing & Sales team’s queries are resolved on time. § Developing the Vendor base for different warehouse/manufacturing locations. § Develop new transporters for critical routes. § Benchmarking of Freight rates across industry. § Focusing on the Transporter performance and ensure that the following parameters are tracked directly. o Placement Index o On time Delivery o Damages/Losses in Transit o No. of instances of penalty/documentation errors § Provide Tools and expertise to the field Teams on Transportation Optimization through Route Optimization. § Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders. § Oversee the implementation and use of transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technologies. People Development § Identifying the Training needs of the Logistics Team. § Anchoring relevant people processes for developing team members. § Driving the team to deliver superior results and enhancing their capabilities. § Ensuring SAP Training is imparted to all the new entrants in the team and to the WSPs. Code of Conduct and ensuring compliance of statutory norms · Educating team on the prevalent company norms and expected work practices. · Ensuring compliance to all relevant and applicable statutes by reviewing the degree of compliance on a periodical basis. Role Essentials: § Data orientation: Analytics & Advanced Excel- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions. § Good Hands-On experience of ERPs.
Having worked in SAP environment will be an added advantage § Ability to pay close attention and notice minor details § Strong execution skills § Negotiation Skills and experience of collective freight negotiations, eAuction, etc § Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. § Ability to work with multiple stake holders in a fast paced & dynamic environment § Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards. INTERNAL LINKAGES: Operations Manager, Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Finance Executives and Manager Warehousing. EXTERNAL LINKAGES: Warehousing service providers, Transporters and Audit Firms Requirements Qualification – Bachelors’ degree in Engineering and Post Graduation from a Tier 1 institute (Preferable) Min 5 Years of relevant experience in field of FMCG/ Retail Requirements • Logistics Spend Management in the area of transport management • Contracting and Transport commercial Management all legs of primary transportation • Ensuring timely availability of trucks for dispatch • Transit Schedule adherence • Statutory compliance in Transportation
