Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Service Engineer role based in the Greater Cardiff Area.

The Service Engineer will install, commission, and maintain laser and robotic equipment at customer sites, ensuring reliable performance and minimal downtime. Typical responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and software issues, and supporting factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing. The role involves preparing service reports, maintaining accurate documentation, and providing technical guidance and training to customers’ engineering and production teams.

The Service Engineer will collaborate closely with internal design, production, and applications teams to feedback field insights, support continuous product improvement, and ensure a high standard of customer experience. Qualifications Strong technical skills in electro-mechanical systems, including experience with industrial machinery, robotics, automation equipment, or CNC/laser systems. Knowledge of electrical and control systems, such as PLCs, motion control, sensors, wiring, and safe working practices around high-voltage and laser equipment.

Proficiency in mechanical assembly, alignment, and fault-finding using hand tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software. Experience in field service, maintenance, or commissioning roles, ideally within high-tech, medical device, or advanced manufacturing environments. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, manuals, and specifications.

Strong problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues under time pressure. Clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialist stakeholders and document service activities accurately. Comfort with frequent customer contact, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to represent the company professionally on-site.

Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally to support installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting as required. Organizational skills to manage service schedules, prioritize tasks, and work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. #J-18808-Ljbffr
