Position Overview We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Design Engineer (10โ15 years) who can independently conceptualize, design, and deliver large SPM systems from scratch.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in designing heavy machinery and must be capable of working with minimal supervision. Key Roles & Responsibilities Machine Design Ownership Independently design large special purpose machines (SPMs) for welding, cutting, and drilling applications Handle complete machine design lifecycle: concept โ detailed design โ manufacturing support Mechanical System Design Design and integrate systems involving: LM Guides & Linear Motion Systems Ball Screws and Precision Slides Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems Gearboxes and Power Transmission Roller & Slat Conveyors AC Motors and Servo Motor-driven systems Structural & Heavy Machine Design Design large fabricated and machined structures (5m+ scale, 8โ25 ton machines) Ensure structural integrity, rigidity, and manufacturability GD&T and Engineering Standards Apply advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with tolerances and fits Ensure compliance with engineering standards and best practices Concept Development Convert customer requirements into workable engineering concepts Perform feasibility analysis and design calculations Cross-functional Coordination Work closely with manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning teams Provide on-site technical support during machine build and trials Problem Solving & Optimization Troubleshoot design issues during fabrication and commissioning Suggest improvements for cost, efficiency, and performance Documentation Prepare BOM, design calculations, layouts, and assembly drawings Maintain proper engineering documentation and revision control Required Skills & Experience 10โ15 years of experience in SPM / heavy machinery design Proven track record of designing large, heavy industrial machines Strong expertise in: Linear motion systems (LM guides, ball screws) Hydraulics & pneumatics Power transmission systems Conveyor systems Servo & AC motor integration Strong hands-on experience with GD&T Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks / Creo / Inventor / similar) Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes Ability to work independently and take full ownership of projects Preferred Profile Experience in welding / cutting / drilling SPMs Exposure to automation and motion control systems Practical shop-floor experience with large machine builds Key Attributes Self-driven and accountable Strong problem-solving mindset Detail-oriented with high engineering rigor Ability to handle complex and large-scale projects independently Qualifications Strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and related design tools, with the ability to create precise technical drawings and 3D models. Proficiency in Graphic Design and Graphics for developing visual documentation, presentations, and design communication materials.
Understanding of Architecture or structural design principles relevant to industrial equipment and automation layouts. Ability to conduct design-focused Research to inform technical decisions, material selection, and process optimization. Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related technical field.
Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills in an engineering environment. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams on-site. Experience in automation, manufacturing, or welding-related projects is an advantage.
