Project Manager

At McDermotts, we’re hiring a Project Manager to join our dynamic team. We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager and communicator to support the McDermotts function in these areas Birmingham. To be considered for the role you must have: The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of drainage and civil engineering packages on infrastructure and construction projects. Working within a contracting environment, the role requires strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and leadership skills to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to specification. Main Responsibilities Project Delivery Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of drainage, highways, earthworks, and associated civil engineering package s Commercial & Contractu al Manage project costs, forecasts, and cash flow in conjunction with the commercial t eamSupport preparation and agreement of valuations, variations, and final accou ntsAdminister contracts (typically NEC, JCT, or bespoke for ms)Manage and mitigate project risks and opportunit ies Health, Safety, Environment & Qua lity Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations 2015Drive high standards of HSEQ performance across site teams and supply chainEnsure works are delivered in line with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality require ments Leadership & Mana gement Lead and manage site teams including Site Managers, Engineers, and Subcont ractorsCoordinate and chair site, progress, and client m eetingsMentor and develop junior members of the proje ct teamMaintain productive working relationships with clients, designers, and stake holders Client & Stakeholder Ma nagement Act as the main point of contact for the client on allocated projectsManage interfaces with utility providers, local authorities, and third‑party sta keholdersPrepare and present progress reports to senior management an d clients Typical Pro ject Scope Surface water & foul drainage installations (incl uding SUDS)Section 278 / 38 hig hways worksEarthworks and groundwor ks packagesChambers, attenuation tanks, pumpi ng stationsService diversions and de ep drainageReinforced concrete structures Skills & Experie nce Requi red Essential Proven experience as a Project Manager within UK civ il engineeringStrong background in drainage and infras tructure worksExperience working for a Tier 2 contractor or simil ar environmentGood working knowledge of NEC contractsAbility to manage multiple workstreams and subcon tract packagesStrong leadership, communication, and problem‑ solving skillsExcellent understanding of construction sequencing and t emporary works Desirable Experience on design & buil d civil packagesExperience working on frameworks or rep eat‑work clientsKnowledge of SUDS design and ap proval processesExperience with rail, highways, or wa ter‑sector wor ks Qualif ications EssentialDegree or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equi valen t experience)SM STSCSCS Black CardFull UK Drivin g LicenceDesirableMember of ICE, CIHT, or CIOBTemporary Works Coordinato rFirst Aid at Work Personal AttributesResults‑driven and commercially awareAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesStrong attention to detail with a proactive approachCollaborati ve leadership styleProfessional and cli ent‑focus e d mindsetJob type: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term con tractWorking h ours: 07:30 – 1 7:00Site l ocation: Birmingham Why Join McDermottsMcDermotts is a nationwide civil engineering and groundworks company based in Birmingham, supporting some of the largest construction companies across the length and breadth of the UK.
