Job Description โ Test Engineer (NPI & Production Testing) Position Summary We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Test Engineer to support New Product Introduction (NPI), production testing, debugging, and technical project coordination in an EMS/PCBA manufacturing environment. The role involves developing and executing test strategies, troubleshooting product failures, coordinating with customers and suppliers, and ensuring smooth production test operations. The ideal candidate should have strong electronics testing knowledge, hands-on debugging experience, and exposure to ICT, FCT, and functional testing processes.
Key Responsibilities NPI & Test Engineering Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities related to product testing and validation. Develop and implement test strategies for new products during prototype and pilot builds. Review customer test requirements and ensure proper test coverage during product introduction.
Coordinate with design, process, and manufacturing teams to ensure test readiness. Production Testing Manage and support production testing activities for PCBA and electronic products. Ensure smooth execution of: ICT (In-Circuit Testing) FCT (Functional Circuit Testing) FPT (Final Product Testing) Monitor test yield and identify opportunities for process and test improvements.
Ensure production test equipment and fixtures are maintained and functioning effectively. Debugging & Troubleshooting Perform debugging and root cause analysis for failed PCBAs and systems. Troubleshoot hardware, process, and test-related issues during NPI and mass production.
Work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions. Analyze recurring failures and drive improvement initiatives. Technical Project Management Coordinate technical activities related to testing and product qualification.
Track project timelines, testing milestones, and engineering deliverables. Support engineering documentation and test reports. Participate in customer technical reviews and project discussions.
Customer & Supplier Coordination Coordinate with customers for test specifications, failure analysis, and technical clarifications. Work with suppliers and vendors for test equipment, fixtures, and technical support. Support customer audits, validation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications Educational Qualification Diploma / BE / B.Tech in: Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Related Electronics disciplines Technical Skills Strong knowledge of: Electronic circuit testing and troubleshooting PCBA manufacturing and testing processes ICT, FCT, and Functional Testing Debugging techniques for electronic assemblies Good understanding of: Test fixtures and test equipment Analog and digital electronics Manufacturing quality processes Ability to analyze test failures and perform root cause analysis. Tools & Systems Familiarity with: Oscilloscopes Multimeters Power supplies Functional test setups Test software and automation tools Exposure to ERP/MES systems is an added advantage. Soft Skills Good communication and coordination skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and customers. Good project coordination and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in EMS / PCBA manufacturing industry preferred. Exposure to Aerospace, Industrial, Automotive, or Consumer Electronics products is an added advantage. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and quality systems is preferred.
