Job Title: Overseas Accounting and Project Manager Location: Kolkata, India Department: Finance & Accounts โ Shared Services Reports To: Finance Controller Overseas Processing and Trading Employment Type: Full-Time Role Overview: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chartered Accountant to lead the overseas accounting operations within our Shared Services Center. The role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, process optimization, international reporting standards, and the ability to lead finance-related projects. The incumbent will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting activities for multiple overseas entities in compliance with local and international financial regulations, while also driving strategic initiatives and special projects.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee accounting operations for overseas entities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany, and fixed assets. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reporting. Review and ensure compliance with local GAAPs and local statutory requirements of the respective overseas jurisdictions.
Coordinate with local finance teams, external auditors, tax consultants, and internal stakeholders for audits, tax filings, and other compliance matters. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency across the shared services platform. Lead and manage finance-related projects such as process transitions, ERP implementations, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
Take ownership of special tasks and cross-functional initiatives delegated by senior management, ensuring timely execution and alignment with business goals. Provide leadership in the design and rollout of internal controls, process documentation, and SOPs for overseas accounting functions. Develop and monitor KPIs and SLAs for accounting service delivery.
Provide leadership and mentoring to junior accounting team members within the shared services. Manage accounting controls and ensure adherence to internal control frameworks and company policies. Qualifications & Experience: Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5 to 8 years of post-qualification experience in accounting and financial operations.
Proven track record in project management , including cross-functional initiatives and process improvement projects. Strong understanding of international accounting principles. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working with cross-cultural teams and in a matrix reporting structure. Preferred Attributes: Prior experience in a shared services or multinational environment , preferably in the Agri-trading, commodity sector . Exposure to commodity processing and handling large greenfield or brownfield expansion.
Hands-on experience in leading process transitions and standardization projects. Project management certifications are a plus. Strong leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
Continuous improvement of mindset and ability to manage change. Ability to work in multiple time zone alignment, if required like during audit etc
