Embedded Software Engineer - Research And Development (R&D) THE COMPANY Silvus Technologies is dedicated to one mission: connecting those who keep us safe. Together, our radios and waveform provide the vital communications for missionâcritical applications in the harshest environments from underground tunnels to high altitude balloons.
Silvus StreamCasterÂŽ radios are being rapidly adopted by customers all over the world ranging from the U.S. Departments of Defense, to international federal, state, and local lawâenforcement agencies, all the way to the Super Bowl, Grammys and industryâleading drone, robot, and other unmanned systems manufacturers. THE OPPORTUNITY Silvus is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Engineering Group, reporting to the Senior Engineering Director for Irvine with dottedâline reporting to the Vice President of Research & Development.
The successful individual in this role will participate in the development of Silvusâ MANET radios and advanced research projects. This is an opportunity to work on all aspects of the system including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption, and security features. This position is 100% onsite , Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologiesâ Engineering and R&D Office in Irvine, CA , near the vibrant Irvine Spectrum.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Implementation of the software portion of MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile adâhoc networking routing protocols. Network management software and web interface implementation. Implementation of different security protocols and encryption algorithms.
Audio streaming and pushâtoâtalk voice application implementation. Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet certain regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140â3 and NIAP Common Criteria. Implementation of testing software for product performance and reliability testing.
Device drivers and board support package development and maintenance for both ARM and RISCâV based systems. Linux system customization and scripting. Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant embedded system software development experience; or a Masterâs degree in Electrical, Computer, or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering field. Expertise in C programming and experience in Linux kernel driver development. Must be a U.S.
Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts. All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test. As a U.S.

Citizen ONLY requirements are needed for some Engineering or R&D roles. This generally does NOT apply to International positions. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Masters of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Communications Engineering, Computer Science.
Knowledge and experience of different security protocols and encryption algorithms such as suite of CNSA algorithms. Demonstrated experience with socket programming and various Internet/Ethernet protocols. Understanding of MAC and networking layer of a communication system.
Experience in AMD UltraScale+ MPSoC and Microchip Polarfire SoC BSP support package development. Deep understanding of Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), network protocols, data authentication and encryption. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following: Lift equipment up to 20 lbs. for the setâup of demonstrations and testing. Perform bending and reaching movements to place items on lower and higher shelves. Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves.
Walking/Moving in the labs. COMPENSATION CA Pay Range: $48.08 â $67.31 USD per hour. Note: The pay range is NOT a guarantee.
