Job Description
Compensation: $60-$65k Job description: Towne & Oak, a bustling cafe & private event space in Winnetka, is hiring a Cafe Manager! You'll be the driving force behind our daily operations, team culture, and guest experience. We're looking for a seasoned hospitality professional who leads by example and takes genuine ownership of the business.
Responsibilities: Oversee all daily cafe operations, serving as the primary point of accountability for the team and the space Lead hiring, scheduling, and development of all FOH staff; conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary matters as needed Build and maintain a strong team culture rooted in hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement Uphold quality, consistency, and cleanliness standards across all areas of the cafe Manage all vendor relationships and oversee weekly and monthly ordering for FOH food, beverages, and supplies Monitor labor, COGS, and operational costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability Manage cash handling procedures, safe counts, and end-of-day reconciliation; ensure all financial policies are strictly followed Maintain full compliance with all health, sanitation, and safety regulations Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated customer and employee concerns, resolving issues with professionalism and urgency Provide regular operational updates and reporting to ownership Perform all opening & closing duties and remain capable of executing any FOH role โ barista, cashier, or runner โ as needed Additional responsibilities as assigned by ownership Qualifications: Minimum 2โ3 years of experience in a cafe or restaurant management role, with demonstrated experience as a top-level manager preferred Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment Strong knowledge of coffee, food & beverage operations, and cafe culture; formal training a plus Solid understanding of basic P&L, labor management, and inventory control Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills Calm, solutions-oriented demeanor under pressure Experience with POS systems and scheduling software Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day and occasionally lift & carry up to 35 lbs Capability to withstand warm temperatures and noisy environments Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends All interviews will be pre-scheduled.
