About the role The Business Development Manager works within their assigned territory to generate new business with mortgage brokers, cultivate and strengthen existing relationships, and provide exceptional and on‑going support to prospective and existing clients to secure long‑term success of our business. This position plays an integral role in supporting the Director of Sales in securing key broker relationships and actively coaching other team members. Responsibilities Market HTC’s wide range of financial products to generate new sales.
Prospect assigned territory for new business; participate in developing new sales strategies to increase market share within assigned territory. Recognize any cross/upsell opportunities. Remain current on all related HTC services and offerings, latest market trends, and participate in industry events to secure competitive advantage.
Identify, develop, and maintain solid relationships and a strong presence with brokers and their referrals. Analyze business opportunities and create plans to maintain continuity, growth, and attainment of sales objectives. Work effectively with all internal and external business partners to achieve required organizational & region/territory goals and achieve excellence.
Conduct routine visits to identify, develop and maintain solid relationships and a strong presence with brokers and their referrals. Collaborate with the Underwriting teams to ensure their feedback is incorporated into the sales process and any issues addressed immediately. Maintain and evaluate consistent objective and sound risk assessment in a high-volume, quality, and service-oriented environment.
Provide the highest level of service and support to external brokers’ inquiries and funding team. Maintain a best‑in‑class relationship with sales, brokers, and brokerage houses. Respond to mortgage broker account inquiries and follow up internally with various departments resolving any issues and complaints in a timely manner.
When called upon, investigate, and respond to broker inquiries in a timely manner. Provide mentorship to an assigned BDM to help support and grow that employee’s portfolio – which may roll‑up to the RSM role. Liaise with marketing and recommend opportunities to achieve objectives through monitoring the effectiveness of the current and promotional programs.
What we’re looking for: Qualifications Authorized to work in Canada. University degree in business, economics, or related discipline. Additional relevant accreditation(s), certification(s) are assets.
Min 3‑5 years in mortgage sales. Strong understanding of mortgage lending. Strong organizational, time‑management and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal relationship building and listening skills. Motivates and engages others through fostering a collaborative team environment. Excellent written / verbal communication and professional maturity.
