Job Description
Purpose The Senior Electrical Engineer provides high‑quality electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role is responsible for the technical execution of electrical engineering work across projects, supporting delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, while contributing to mentoring and technical development within the electrical engineering team. Responsibilities Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
Lead the execution of electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes. Support project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings, preparation of progress reports, and compliance with required checking and quality assurance procedures. Ensure project scope is clearly defined and that changes are managed in accordance with project change‑management processes.
Provide technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including: Preparation and review of electrical equipment and materials requisitions Technical bid evaluations Review of vendor documentation and purchase orders Coordinate electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams (process, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, automation) to ensure integrated project delivery. Identify and resolve discrepancies between Worley and client standards and requirements. Support the development and technical review of electrical engineering deliverables.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers and designers as required. Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders. Proactively identify technical issues and risks, develop appropriate solutions, and escalate when needed.
Technical & Industry Experience Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering work on industrial projects (e.g., energy, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure). Working knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools (e.g., SAP, KMS, or equivalent project systems). Familiarity with process safety and operability considerations (e.g., participation in HAZOP/LOPA where electrical systems interface with safety functions).
Understanding of project scope definition, workshare execution, and the practical impacts of TA/NTA execution models. Strong Working Knowledge Of Electrical Engineering Deliverables, Including Electrical single‑line diagrams and schematics Power distribution studies and load lists Motor control center (MCC) layouts and schematics Cable schedules, routing, tray and conduit layouts Grounding and bonding drawings Lighting and small power layouts Area classification and hazardous area electrical layouts Bills of material Material requisitions Construction and engineering work packages Working Knowledge Of Electrical System Design And Application, Including Low and medium voltage power distribution systems Motor control and protection systems Variable frequency drives (VFDs) Lighting systems and emergency power Grounding, bonding, and lightning protection Hazardous area electrical design and applicable codes/standards Required Education, Qualifications & Accreditation Accredited Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA, or eligibility to obtain registration.
Solid experience in electrical engineering roles on multidisciplinary projects. Demonstrated ability to develop, review, and interpret electrical designs, drawings, and technical documentation. Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
