Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview Huxley is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a small, Chicago based company. You will work on both building new features and modernizing an established codebase. The role requires 1-2 days per week in‑office in Chicago.

Tech Stack Claude Code (used daily) Java (backend) Angular (frontend) AWS Responsibilities Designing and shipping new functionality. Modernizing legacy systems to improve performance, cleanliness, and maintainability. Balancing deep focus coding with customer conversations (~4–6 hours per week).

Using AI coding tools, especially Claude Code. Qualifications Strong communication skills. Ability to switch between focused coding and customer interaction without losing momentum.

Interest in modernization work and improving existing systems. Bias toward delivering real, working software rather than just discussing ideas. US citizen or legal permanent resident.
