Job Description
Raise is currently hiring a Telecom Engineer on behalf of our client. The role is a 2‑year contract based in Burnaby, British Columbia. The position offers a valuable opportunity to work with one of Canada’s largest electrical energy suppliers.
Responsibilities Commissioning Quality Assurance: Review comprehensive test results for telecom equipment during commissioning to ensure asset performance meets all operational expectations. Compliance Documentation: Produce accurate Test Report Cover Sheets (TRCS) to validate equipment readiness and regulatory compliance. Standards Management: Review and interpret Commissioning Engineering Standards to maintain utility engineering integrity.
Project Support: Assist project and operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and scheduling goals, including proposing plan adjustments, reviewing contractor deliverables, and preparing progress reports. Engineering Risk Mitigation: Conduct independent studies and technical analysis for standard methods and designs, and engage with senior engineering team members when complex challenges arise. Site Compliance: Perform independent on‑site construction quality control and monitoring to verify design compliance in the field.
Qualifications Minimum of four years of experience in a relevant engineering field, with a proven track record in equipment commissioning. Strong foundational knowledge of IP networking principles within an industrial or utility environment. Telecom Engineering background preferred; Electrical Engineering background with robust telecom asset experience also considered.
Practical knowledge of Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) equipment and legacy telecom transport systems. Utility Infrastructure experience working within a power utility or heavy industrial infrastructure setting. Familiarity with CAD systems, standard industry design/analysis software, and utility drawing standards.
University graduate in applied science or engineering. P.Eng status with proof of permit to practice, registered with EGBC when hired. Intermediate to advanced English communication skills (written and spoken) tailored for a professional engineering and corporate environment.
Additional Information Hybrid schedule: at least 2 days a week in the office. Annual travel to sites across BC. Contractor must supply their own Windows 11 laptop for the duration of the assignment.
