Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada Employment Type: Regular Full Time Workplace Type: Hybrid Role Overview Reporting functionally to the Director of Engineering and operationally to the Engineering Manager, the electrical engineer’s key accountability is to create value and address and mitigate risks associated with their areas of responsibility. This includes scope development for specialized contracts and assistance with scope development for engineering and construction contracts; input into proposal or bid evaluation for contracts within area of responsibility, oversight of discipline engineering from engineering consultants, change management and quality and risk management. A critical success factor is ensuring electrical engineering deliverables are checked for technical quality, and coordination between other disciplines, including permitting, procurement and construction management is properly executed.
Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader, adhering to and sponsoring safety and environmental requirements, procedures and best practices Developing the Scope of Work (SOW) for consultant requests for proposal (RFP) or notices of change or change directives. Development and review of Project Scope, specifically where it relates to electrical engineering Review deliverables for technical compliance with Teck requirements Attending internal weekly project update meetings Attending consultant led weekly project update meetings Monitoring progress and performance of Design Scope and take corrective action where necessary to control engineering work within budget and schedule. Monitoring Project Scope and use the project-specific Change Management Process to confirm changes to Engineering Manager.
Developing and sustaining relationships with the consultants and Red Dog operating staff. Supporting the Engineering Manager on coordinating engineering work between consultants, and between the engineering group and other project groups. Contributing to monthly reports Supporting the Engineering Manager in documenting stage gate requirements Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in the appropriate jurisdiction.
Minimum 7 years successful experience in design of electrical systems, or maintenance of electrical systems on an operating site. Previous project design and field engineering experience preferred. Able to prioritize activities and outcomes to support the achievement of key project performance indicators.
Strong critical and problem-solving skills Effectively plans work in areas of responsibility. Pay Range: CAD $122,000 - $150,000 per year #J-18808-Ljbffr
