Job Description
In this role, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to work on Built Environment (Buildings and Facilities) related projects in Canada, assisting in the planning, design, and construction of Commercial, Rail & Transit, Aviation, Institutional, Healthcare, Governmental, Transportation, and general infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Work within an electrical engineering team in a multi-disciplinary, time sensitive environment with changing priorities. Take personal responsibility to assure that the client's work is completed on time, on budget, and within the quality standards of the firm.
Collaborate with and support Project Managers and Project Principals to meet all technical and commercial aspects of assigned projects. Work with other disciplines and offices within Mott MacDonald. Participate in training for individuals and the team, in accordance with Group policies.
Work in accordance with company policies and develop personal goals and objectives. Provide supporting data to Project Managers to facilitate analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives. Assist in business development and marketing projects.
Assist with proposals. Monitor progress on assigned projects. Qualifications 5-10 yearsโ experience with building design and delivery.
B.S. Degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent in education and experience. PEO license, or eligibility for licensing as an engineer in the Province of Ontario is required.
Demonstrated experience in design of electrical services and systems including electrical service; substations and switchgear; low voltage switchgear and power distribution; emergency power standby generator system; uninterrupted power supply (UPS); lighting; fire alarm system; security system; voice and data communications network; lightning protection; grounding and bonding; energy efficiency; coordination with mechanical plant; energy metering and monitoring systems; power for mechanical equipment and motor control centers; control panels; cabling and raceways; end-to-end total system design focused on operational efficiency; efficient design and layout of back of house spaces, and the like, for industrial, commercial and institutional low-rise and high-rise structures. Strong knowledge of local and national codes and other legislative requirements. Experience in design of electrical services for one or more specialty sectors (e.g., aviation, transit stations, hospitals) would be an asset.
LEED certification would be an asset. Experience in power systems atudies, such as short circuit, arc flash, selective coordination, load flow, motor starting, etc. using ETAP and/or SKM software. Working knowledge of CDEGS or CYMCAP software would be an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct oversight and to deliver projects onโtime and budget to the satisfaction of clients. Assuring the quality of deliverables for yourself and the team. Proficiency in BIM/Revit.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner, both written and verbally. Positive โcanโdoโ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients. Adaptable to working within different client environments/cultures.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments. Willing and able to travel within Canada and internationally as required to support projects. The expected salary range for this position is from $99,000-$122,000.
