Role Description The Development Director will lead and implement the organization’s fundraising strategy to support the mission and long‑term sustainability of Los Niños Primero.

This role is responsible for managing and expanding fundraising efforts including individual giving, grants, corporate partnerships, and special events. The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff to cultivate donors and increase philanthropic support. Key Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy and Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive annual development plan aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.

Identify and pursue new funding opportunities including foundations, corporations, and individual donors. Set and monitor fundraising goals and track progress toward revenue targets. Grant Development and Management Identify relevant grant opportunities and oversee the grant application process.

Collaborate with program staff to gather data and develop compelling proposals. Ensure timely submission of grant reports and compliance with funder requirements. Donor Relations and Stewardship Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and prospective donors.

Develop strategies for donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship. Manage donor communications, including updates, reports, and impact stories. Board and Leadership Collaboration Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors in fundraising initiatives.

Provide guidance and tools to help board members engage in fundraising activities. Prepare development updates and reports for board meetings. Events and Campaigns Oversee fundraising events and campaigns such as annual appeals and collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure successful execution.

Data and Systems Management Maintain accurate donor records and manage the donor database. Analyze fundraising performance and provide regular reports to leadership. Implement systems and processes that strengthen development operations.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience. Demonstrated success in grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising strategy.

Strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Experience working with diverse communities and a commitment to educational equity. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Strategic thinking and planning. Relationship building and donor engagement. Strong writing and communication skills.

Organizational and project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a mission‑driven environment. Compensation Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
