Job Description
Job Title: Process Engineer Job Description Responsibilities Work on a variety of heavy oil projects for both domestic and international clients. Acquire in depth technical expertise in heavy oil processing, specifically well pads. Lead and mentor junior engineers, delegating tasks, checking work, and authenticating skilled work products.
Become a critical decision maker while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers. Build and maintain relationships with clients. Oversee the fabrication and assembly of projects to gain practical experience.
Travel domestically and internationally to provide startup and commissioning support. Receive mentorship from Sr. Process Engineers and supervisors to support technical development towards a lead process engineer role.
Essential Skills Proven experience in manufacturing and process engineering. Proficiency in P&ID development and the use of process simulation software. Professional Engineer certification with several years of experience in heavy oil processing, including SAGD and well pads.
Experience in EPC and/or fabricator settings. Excellent communication skills for interaction with clients and internal team members. Proficiency in HYSYS and other engineering software such as BR&E; Pro, Max, VMGSim Symmetry, and Flarenet.
Experience with HAZOP and the ability to work on multiple simultaneous small projects. Ability to authenticate engineering documents. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in sizing process equipment such as separators, treaters, FWKO, heat exchangers, PSVs, flare systems, control valves, pumps, and compressors is an asset.
Experience in designing alternative processes in Glycol Dehydration, Sweetening, Mechanical Refrigeration, Oil Processing, Compression, and Water Treating is advantageous. Oil Treater Design experience is considered an asset. Work Environment You will work within a dynamic and collaborative team environment, utilizing advanced engineering software and technologies.
This role may require travel for project support, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in various locations. Dress code and work hours will align with project demands and professional standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
