What is the role: This position is embedded within myStartUp CFO , a respected CPA & Accounting Services firm under the Numera umbrella. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Controller to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts effectively.
The ideal candidate is dynamic, committed, and experienced in collaborating with or managing a team of bookkeepers. The role also involves ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks. What you would do: β Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts β Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results β Analyze financial information and summarize financial status β Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending β Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures β Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers β Prepare financial statements β Assist with tax audits and tax returns β Plan, assign, and review staffβs work β Support the month-end and year-end close process β Develop and document business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls β Ensure compliance with US GAAP principles β Liaise with our Financial Controllers to improve financial procedures Delivery management: β Proven experience as an accountant. β Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures β In-depth understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP) β Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process β Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like Xero and QuickBooks β Advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables β Accuracy and attention to detail β Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills Skills and Qualifications: β Degree in Accounting or Finance β Relevant certification (e.G., CMA or CPA) will be preferred. β General computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, etc.) β Accounting tools: Should be familiar with accounting software packages, like Xero, QuickBooks β Strong communication and presentation skills β Must be able to demonstrate multitasking capacity β Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment β Must be highly organized in document management with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. β Must be responsible, reliable, a great team player, and positive under any circumstance Hereβs some bonus stuff: β Schedule: MondayβFriday β Benefits: Health insurance, holidays, paid leave, and professional development support.
