The Magna Exteriors portfolio includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets. Magna provides materials development and design through manufacturing and assembly to help automakers create vehicles worldwide. Responsibilities The Manufacturing Engineer—Moulding is responsible for ensuring a smooth transition of new products from Advanced Product Development to Operations.

Follow the Advance Product Quality Planning (Trax) established practice. Lead the advanced manufacturing team and support teams to a flawless launch. Apply technical knowledge to ensure robust manufacturing process design prior to launch and lead production improvement projects.

Manage performance deliverables such as implementation of CI suggestions, scrap reduction initiatives and OEE improvements through launches or assigned projects. Support technical and manufacturing solutions including engineering and design to achieve goals relating to R&D, organizational projects and continuous improvement and risk reduction. Participate in molding-related quote activities, evaluate part designs for manufacture, estimate cavities per mold, calculate mold tonnage and material capacity; recommend design changes to improve profitability and function.

Obtain quotes for molding equipment and tooling; negotiate pricing based on quote analyses. Obtain secondary process quotes for EOATs and gate cutting equipment; manage molding-related capital equipment and ensure launch coordination (materials, machinery, manpower, measurements, methods). Assist in part design activities to ease manufacturing and reduce cost; develop Process Control Plans and Process Flow Charts; maintain PFMEA, Operator Instructions, Rework, Change-over procedures and related documentation.

Track Launch Readiness, KPI targets, test incidents, customer rejects and high-risk items; coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to meet corporate objectives for manufacturing process, productivity, volume, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery. Work with suppliers to resolve process deviations; reduce scrap and maximize efficiencies. Facilitate Launch Readiness reporting, transfer knowledge from previous launches, and lead open issues to Senior Management when required.

Monitor and address customer quality rejections by program and type of issue; manage interim and permanent corrective actions and maintain Launch Readiness training. Mentor and train CFT members; ensure timely communication with customers on launch issues; participate in open issues tracking meetings and Launch Readiness reviews; conduct safe launch audits with program managers and quality review budgets. Aim for zero defects and maintain highest customer satisfaction; collaborate with other departments to achieve targets.

Qualifications Must have a Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering Degree/Diploma, or applicable trade. Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role. Ability to conduct higher-level analysis and prioritize tasks; work with partial responsibility and minimal supervision.
