Job Description

Protection Engineer PS Technology Inc. (PSTI) is a respected solution provider of planning studies, system protection engineering, and high voltage design of renewable and utility power facilities through 500 kV. PSTI has diligently and successfully served clients in Alberta and Western Canada for over two decades. PSTI operates as a fully owned company of Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI).

A leading power engineering consultant firm, ECI provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV. Responsibilities Provide power system protection services including system model development, short circuit analysis, relay settings development, area coordination studies, standards development, relay operation analysis, and technical reviews of drawings and relay settings.

Support project delivery from the protection team led by the Protection Supervisor. Mentor less experienced engineers via direct training and technical review of work. Minimum Requirements • Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering• 5+ years protection engineering experience• P.Eng. license required.

US PE license may be required.• Proficient in ASPEN Oneliner software• In-depth knowledge of system protection coordination and philosophy• Working knowledge of common power system high voltage apparatus and IBR (inverter‑based resource)• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and planning skills• Ability to work in a team environment and meet fast‑paced project schedules• Willingness to meet client‑mandated drug and background checking Proficiency & Assets Proficiency in Siemens APA (formerly CAPE) or ETAP is considered an asset.
