Job Description
We are seeking a hands‑on Site Manager to lead daily operations at one of our Birmingham Rail facilities. This location produces rail products and railroad track components that support the North American rail industry. The Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 5–10 employees while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and customer service objectives are consistently achieved.
This is an excellent opportunity for a manufacturing leader who enjoys working in a smaller operation where they can make a direct impact on employees, customers, and overall business performance. Key Responsibilities Lead all day-to-day operations of the facility, including manufacturing, shipping, receiving, inventory, and customer service activities. Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 5–10 employees.
Foster a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Monitor production schedules and ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time. Manage inventory levels and coordinate material purchases to support operational requirements.
Work closely with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain strong business relationships. Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve profitability. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Assist with budgeting, cost control, and operational planning initiatives. Support hiring, employee development, performance management, and workforce planning activities. Maintain facility equipment and coordinate maintenance activities as needed.
Qualifications/Experience Requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; sufficient relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, railroad, or industrial environment. Strong preference for candidates with Maintenance of Way (MOW) railroad industry experience, including familiarity with railroad track components, rail infrastructure products, or railroad maintenance operations. Experience managing employees in a production, warehouse, service, or industrial setting.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve operational performance, and drive a culture of safety and accountability. Experience with inventory management, purchasing, scheduling, and customer service activities. Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance customer needs, operational priorities, and financial objectives. Experience working directly with railroad customers, contractors, or suppliers is highly preferred. Knowledge of railroad track products, maintenance-of-way equipment, rail distribution, or related railroad operations is a significant advantage.
