Annotate maintenance on prescribed forms and enter data into TMT and other data collection systems. Manage the shop facility in a safe, efficient, cost‑effective manner in compliance with OSHA and company policies. Enforce safety policies, including hazardous waste handling and disposal.
Reinforce safety processes and protocols with staff. Maintain inventory of parts, tools, specialized test equipment, and consumables. Schedule and supervise mechanics to meet terminal maintenance requirements within budget.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the RFM. Duties and Responsibilities Must possess at least 2+ years in a Shop Supervisory or Lead Mechanic position. Must have at least 5+ years' industry experience in fleet maintenance.
Knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems. Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures. Competent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other web‑based applications.
Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software. Proficient in use and completion of repair and purchase orders produced by a maintenance management system. Position Type / Hours This is a full‑time position, Monday through Friday; hours depend on location.
Requirements Education High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school. Coursework in auto and equipment mechanics at a trade school and six (6) years of experience as a mechanic or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: 3 to 5 years as a fleet maintenance supervisor.
DOT HM‑183 training or experience is a plus. ASE certification not required but highly recommended. Experience 5 years as a Shop Manager / Lead Mechanic. 2 years Hazmat and Cargo Tank Experience. 5 years Fleet Maintenance.
Licenses & Certifications DOT HM‑183 training or experience (plus). ASE certification (highly recommended). Physical Demands Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs.
Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening. Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn). Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Stand for long periods of time. Walk for long periods of time. Bend or twist body.
