Overview The GIS Data QC Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of geospatial data within the utilities domain. This role involves performing data validation, quality control, and error rectification using Esri technologies, advanced geospatial tools, and FME.
Responsibilities Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) on geospatial datasets, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. Validate spatial and attribute data against predefined standards and business rules. Identify, document, and rectify data errors, including topology issues, attribute mismatches, and projection inconsistencies.
Collaborate with GIS developers and analysts to implement data correction workflows. Conduct spatial analysis and generate reports to support data quality initiatives. Maintain metadata and documentation for geospatial datasets.
Develop and execute automated QC processes using Python (ArcPy), geoprocessing tools, and FME. Support data migration and integration efforts, ensuring data quality during transitions. Provide feedback and recommendations to improve data collection and maintenance processes.
Qualifications Bachelorβs degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field. 3β6 years of experience in GIS data quality control, validation, and analysis. Strong knowledge of Esri technologies, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and ArcGIS Enterprise. Proficiency in Python scripting (ArcPy) for data validation and automation.
Experience with geospatial data formats, projections, and coordinate systems. Familiarity with utility network models (Gas, Electric, Water, Telecom) is a plus. Knowledge of FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for data transformation and automation is an added advantage.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
