Commercial Solar Design Specialist | Hybrid Role (Design + Client Facing) We’re looking for a Commercial Solar Design Specialist who’s just as comfortable building accurate PV system designs as they are sitting in front of a client explaining ROI. This is a proper split role: ~50% detailed commercial solar design work ~50% client meetings, presentations & technical sales support If you like being stuck behind a screen all week, this won’t be for you. What you’ll be doing Design side Produce full commercial solar PV designs (layouts, string design, shading, yield, electrical schematics) Carry out remote + on-site assessments to shape accurate system designs Select panels, inverters, mounting systems and full system components Ensure compliance with relevant standards, building regs and DNO/grid requirements Produce clear drawings, specs and handover docs for install teams Work closely with delivery/installation teams to make sure designs are actually buildable Client side Meet commercial clients face to face and present system designs clearly Break down technical detail into something non-technical stakeholders actually understand Talk confidently through performance, savings, ROI and payback Handle technical questions around maintenance, warranties, finance options Support sales teams in site visits, proposals and technical discussions Other bits Support materials lists and equipment ordering where needed Liaise with suppliers on spec, availability and lead times Keep up to speed with new tech, products and industry changes What we’re looking for Must have 2+ years’ experience in commercial solar PV design Strong understanding of PV systems, components and standards Confident communicator — comfortable presenting to clients face to face Able to explain ROI/payback and system performance clearly Experience with PV design tools (PVsyst / Helioscope / AutoCAD or similar) Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites Nice to have Strong knowledge of grid connection / DNO processes Experience with battery storage / EV integration / wider energy systems Supplier or materials specification experience Exposure to commercial energy project delivery What you get Competitive salary (based on experience) Hybrid mix of office, design work and site/client visits Varied projects — no two weeks the same Real input into projects from concept through to delivery Opportunity to work on meaningful commercial solar builds If you want a role where your designs don’t just sit in a folder and you actually get in front of clients to see projects move forward — this one’s worth a look.
