As York's second largest Faculty, it prepares future global leaders who will redefine and advance health and human sciences. The faculty offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including Global Health, Health Policy & Management, Kinesiology and Health Science, Nursing, and Psychology. Reporting to the Dean and working closely with the Executive Officer and senior leadership team, the Manager is responsible for overall operations and support to the Office of the Dean in the Faculty of Health.
The role involves managing communication, records, business development presentations, project plans, supervising staff, and providing confidential support to senior leaders. Daily activities entail interactions with staff, executive offices, and high‑level internal and external contacts. The Manager assists with faculty affairs, project management, faculty recruitment, event coordination, administrative and office management, coordination of senior leadership meetings, and strategic program research and development.
The role requires awareness of evolving issues, assessment of urgency, informing senior leadership, and resolving matters. The Manager must strategically meet the demands of a challenging, diverse, high‑volume work environment. Education Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (degree verification required).
Experience 4 years of experience providing a full range of executive support to a senior leader or administrator in a complex institutional environment. 2 years of management or supervisory experience. Experience with project management and event planning. Experience developing compelling written and visual communications for a wide variety of audiences.
Skills Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of employment legislation. Knowledge of higher education, healthcare environments, and complex institutional settings, including writing for internal and external audiences and developing presentation/content outlines.
Effective communication skills at all organizational levels, from ground level to executive and board level. Effective planning, organizational, and project tracking skills with the ability to multi‑task, assimilate new information quickly, and balance priorities. Highly collaborative interpersonal skills, including listening, questioning, and building rapport across the institution.
Ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and maintain confidentiality. Ability to build relationships, negotiate, influence, and manage change in a complex environment. Team leadership, performance monitoring, and conflict resolution skills.
Cross‑cultural sensitivity to work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. Adaptive to change, new ideas, technology, and practices. Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Additional Notes Normal office work environment. May be required to work extended hours. Compensation Base salary range: $92,231 – $100,127 (FTE annual).
