Role Summary The Operational Excellence (Ops Ex) team shapes how Suffolk builds â defining standards, driving improvement, and delivering programs that help our projects and people succeed at scale. As Senior Manager, Operations Strategy, you will be a key leader driving Suffolkâs most important operational initiatives.
Youâll blend strategic problemâsolving, structured program delivery, and handsâon field engagement to identify opportunities, design solutions, and lead crossâfunctional implementation that strengthens operational performance across the company. You will collaborate closely with executive management, operational leaders, regional teams, and all Ops Ex functions to deliver measurable results.
The Senior Manager, Operations Strategy is required to be onâsite in our vibrant Boston office five days a week. Responsibilities Strategy Development & Problem Framing â Lead the development of Suffolkâs most critical strategic initiatives and longâterm operational strategies, shaping them from early conceptualization through defined objectives, workplans, and success metrics. Identify valueâcreation opportunities across Suffolkâs operations and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations that drive meaningful performance outcomes.
Program Definition, Structuring, & Prioritization â Partner with Ops Ex leadership to define, scope, and prioritize major strategic programs. Translate operational challenges into structured program roadmaps with measurable, scalable solutions, ensuring alignment across interconnected Ops Ex efforts. Program Management & CrossâFunctional Delivery â Lead dayâtoâday execution of complex, crossâfunctional programs, building project plans, managing dependencies, tracking risks, and facilitating effective decisionâmaking.
Coordinate across Ops Ex teams and regional operations leaders to maintain alignment and drive progress. DataâDriven Insights & Operational Analysis â Work with Data and IT teams to ensure analysis informs operational strategy and decisionâmaking. Define key questions, scope analytical approaches, and provide strategic direction that guides technical teams.
Interpret insights, refine problem statements, and identify operational levers that matter most. Stakeholder Engagement, Governance, & Alignment â Drive stakeholder engagement and alignment across regional teams, functional leaders, and executive management. Support governance structures through meeting cadences, steeringâcommittee materials, and clear communication.
Implementation, Adoption, & Change Enablement â Develop and execute implementation and adoption plans in partnership with the Change Management capability, including communications, enablement, and training strategies. Engage deeply with jobsites to validate assumptions, pilot solutions, and ensure initiatives are practical and fieldâinformed. Qualifications Bachelorâs degree in business, STEM, Construction Management, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred). 8+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy execution, program management, or operations improvement.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex, crossâfunctional initiatives from strategy through implementation. Strong analytical and structured problemâsolving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguity and drive clarity. Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging executive management, operational leaders, and field teams.
Ability to influence, build relationships, and manage multiple stakeholders. Willingness to dive into operational details while maintaining a strategic view. Experience working with data, analytics, or technology teams on operational enablement.
Proficiency with program management tools (Asana, Smartsheet, etc.) and dashboarding/reporting platforms is preferred. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, talk, or hear; perform fineâmotor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands.
The employee will spend time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking may be required. Compensation Information The expected salary range for this position (Senior Manager, Operations Strategy) in USâMAâBoston is between $133,000 and $186,000 USD.
This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolkâs total compensation package. Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy.
