Description: We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health Actuarial and Financial Consulting team at Mercer. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office. As a Sr Health Actuarial Consultant, you will lead client engagements focused on employers’ health benefits strategies, including financial projections, plan design optimization, and renewal negotiations.

You will also serve as a primary financial contact for clients while providing direction to analysts and associates. Responsibilities Lead routine client engagements, managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other projects associated with underwriting health and welfare insurance. Review data analyses conducted by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and assist in their development.

Perform and review complex analyses and cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other software, with potential specialization in certain areas of healthcare-related insurance. Draft and review client reports or presentations to summarize findings and recommend strategies or solutions. Qualifications BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field.

Minimum 4 years’ experience working in an actuarial field, with health and benefits consulting experience. Proven progress toward obtaining your ASA designation. Client‑facing experience.

Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office—Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications Experience in health benefits actuarial consulting. Strong programming skills in R and Python, with experience in writing reusable code for data manipulation, actuarial or financial modeling, and process automation applied effectively in project or production environments.

Work Location & Hours Hybrid work arrangement with a requirement to be in the local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which the full team will be together in person.

Compensation The applicable base salary range for this role is $93,500 to $145,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
