Job Description Starting Date: Immediately Title: Board Certified Behavior Specialist (BCBA) Reports To and Is Evaluated By: Director of Pupil Services / Supervisor of Special Education Availability: ASAP Terms of Employment: 10 month full‑time position, salary in accordance with PEA Collective Bargaining Agreement Principal Function: Provide highly advanced behavioral analysis services and behavior management plans in a K‑12 environment for students with special education needs and challenging behaviors; provide support and professional learning to school site staff, parents/guardians in appropriate behavior intervention techniques; conduct assessments and develop plans that conform to IDEA and PA Chapter 14. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop materials, training, and provide resources for and professional learning to administrators, educators, teaching assistants, personal care assistants and parents/guardians in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other evidence‑based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavior difficulties. Plan and oversee the development and implementation of programs, policies, and best practices related to instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for students with special education needs and challenging behaviors.
Create and assist district staff with the development and implementation of functional behavioral assessments and behavior plans for individual students, including observing and interacting with students and families in the home and school environment. Implement and assist district staff with data collection, review of data and modification of behavior supports according to the data. Assist district staff and students with transition from out‑of‑district programs to district programs.
Engage in community outreach and maintain resources to assist students and parents/guardians in accessing additional supports for managing difficult behaviors. Participate as appropriate on school‑based teams such as MTSS, SAP, policy violations and other meetings to assess student needs and provide pertinent information regarding supporting challenging behaviors. Participate as needed in the development of school attendance improvement plans (SAIP) to support students exhibiting school‑avoidance behavior.
Maintain knowledge of current literature, new research findings and resources in the areas of positive behavior support, applied behavior analysis, and school mental health. Engage in professional development opportunities and continuing education to maintain BCBA certification. Contribute to an integrated and effective program of special education and pupil services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Other activities as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Education or Director of Pupil Services. Education / Certification Master's Degree in Special Education or related human services field. Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate obtained through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Current license for Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania. Prior school experience preferred. Pre‑Employment Requirements PA State Police Clearance (Act 34).
Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151). FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114). School Personnel Health Form (Physical and TB test).

Physical Requirements Sedentary: involves sitting most of the time; may exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Light Work: may exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Medium Work: may exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Heavy Work: may exert up to 75 lbs of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Very Heavy Work: may exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, >50 lbs of force frequently, and >20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
