Job Description

Systems Engineer - Senior • Web Development Senior Systems Engineer responsible for leading web development efforts for the National Park Service (NPS) and its Information Resources Directorates. The role includes implementing, maintaining, and enhancing web systems and applications to support public services, ensuring high availability, security, and user accessibility. Responsibilities Lead design, development, and deployment of NPS web systems and applications.

Provide technical expertise for web system improvements and integration with other enterprise systems. Lead a web development team, coordinating activities, setting priorities, and ensuring project delivery on schedule. Maintain system uptime, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance improvements.

Collaborate with system architects, security teams, and stakeholders on requirements and architecture decisions. Document technical designs, development processes, and operational procedures. Implement and maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines for web applications.

Ensure compliance with security policies and obtain required clearance. Qualifications 7+ years of web development experience, including team leadership. Proven experience in government or large enterprise web environments.

Strong proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and server‑side frameworks (e.g., .NET, Node.js, Java). Experience with web application deployment, CI/CD, and automation tools. Knowledge of web security practices and the ability to implement secure code.

CompTIA Security+ or CISSP preferred. Valid security clearance or ability to obtain one for NPS projects. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
