Go back South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust Staff Nurse The closing date is 29 April 2026 An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we are recruiting for a mental health nurse to join our inpatient team on Stanley Ward a 22 bedded Male acute ward for adults of working age adults. You will be working within the Wakefield Acute Pathway, based at Fieldhead Hospital supported by an established leadership team of the Consultant Psychiatrist, Ward Manager, Clinical Lead Nurse, Deputy Ward Managers and Matron. A passion for crisis intervention and trauma informed working.

While this role meets the eligibility requirements for Skilled Worker sponsorship, due to the short-term nature of the contract and the hours, the Trust will not be offering sponsorship for this post.

Job responsibilities JOB SUMMARY This is a generic band 5 staff nurse job description designed to reflect mental health services Trust-wide. You are responsible for your own health and safety and must co‑operate with management at all times in achieving safer work processes and workplaces, particularly where it can impact on others. You will be trained in the correct use of any equipment provided to improve safety and health within the Trust.

You are required to use the equipment when necessary and as instructed; it is your responsibility to ensure the equipment is safe to use, prior to its use and must report any defects immediately to your manager. Plus for supervisory grades You are required to provide adequate supervision to ensure compliance with safe work practices. You will be expected to carry out risk assessments, identify hazards in your work area, and evaluate the level of risk associated with identified hazards and implement adequate controls to eliminate or reduce the level of risk.
