Job Description

The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our team within the gastroenterology Ward 8 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The post holder will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience. You will be able to demonstrate high professional standards of care and the ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team setting. You will utilise a broad range of knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning and implementation of care for our patients.

As a registered nurse within medical specialties, you will have the support of a structured induction, ongoing education and development from our Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialists, and opportunities to develop your leadership and management skills. You need to have a live NMC UK PIN in order to be considered for this post. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital Permanent Contract Full‑time position (36 hours per week) Shift pattern: rotational, days, nights and weekends Key Responsibilities Assess patient needs, plan/implement and evaluate a programme of care which is evidence based, utilising all available resources and taking into consideration the patient’s lifestyle, gender and cultural background, and ensuring involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others. Maintain patient records in line with NMC guidelines for records and record keeping.

Practice within the legal and ethical framework established by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and national legislation to ensure patient interests and well‑being are met. Work within the NHS, NHS Greater Glasgow, and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation, policy, guidelines and procedures. Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well‑being and future lifestyle by practising in an open, transparent and inclusive manner, ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care.

Contribute to the provision of an appropriate learning environment in line with NES Quality Placement Standards. Contribute to the clinical appraisal of pre‑registration nurses. Demonstrate own professional development.
