Job Description

Job Description Job Description Inside Sales Specialist (Aviation/Avionics) Location: Advanced Flight Systems (AFS) – Canby, OR Pay Range: $28–$32/hour, DOE Industry: Aviation / Avionics Who We Are Advanced Flight Systems (AFS) designs and builds panels and supports innovative avionics solutions for experimental and general aviation aircraft. Our customers are builders, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts who value safety, precision, and great service. We’re looking for someone who enjoys helping people, learning technical products, and being part of a collaborative aviation-focused team.

About the Role As an Inside Sales Specialist, you’ll be the friendly, knowledgeable voice helping customers choose and purchase avionics solutions. You’ll answer questions, prepare quotes, process orders, and guide customers through technical decisions while providing exceptional service from first contact through after-sale support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with technical products, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in helping customers succeed.

You’ll be working with customers who are actively building and flying their own aircraft, so curiosity about aviation and how things work is a big plus. A Day in the Life You might start your day talking with a customer who’s deep into building their aircraft and wants a second set of eyes on their panel before they pull the trigger. You ask the right questions, spot a potential mismatch, and help them get it right the first time.

Next, you’re building out a quote for a full avionics setup—balancing performance, compatibility, and budget without overcomplicating things. You’re not just entering orders; you’re helping people make smart decisions on equipment they’ll rely on in the air. Throughout the day, you’re bouncing between emails, calls, and internal conversations—checking lead times with production, coordinating with shipping, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

At some point, someone reaches out with a “something’s not quite right” question. You dig in, help troubleshoot, or loop in the right person, and stay with it until it’s resolved. No hand-offs into the void.

Most of the people you’ll talk to are builders and pilots. They know their projects, and they appreciate working with someone who listens, thinks, and doesn’t waste their time. By the end of the day, you’ve helped a handful of customers move one step closer to getting in the air—and probably learned something new yourself along the way.

What You’ll Do Respond to inbound customer inquiries by phone, email, and online channels Provide quotations for products and complete instrument panel configurations Help customers understand product options and configurations Process sales orders and coordinate fulfillment Manage product returns and RMAs Maintain clear communication regarding lead times and delivery expectations Support customers with basic product questions and troubleshooting Collaborate with shipping, accounting, production, and other internal teams Build strong relationships with aircraft owners, builders, and aviation partners What You Bring Interest in learning technical products and helping customers make confident decisions Customer service or inside sales experience, preferably with technical products Strong communication skills and a professional, friendly approach Ability to manage multiple tasks while staying organized and detail-oriented Comfort learning and working with technical documentation Proficiency with common office software Experience with accounting or POS systems (Business Central and/or QuickBooks preferred). Good math skills and strong problem-solving ability Bonus Points If You Have • Personal interest in aviation, especially experimental or light sport aircraft • Experience building, maintaining, or flying aircraft (even as a hobbyist) • Pilot training or certificate (Student, Private, Commercial, or Instrument) • Familiarity with modern glass panel avionics (Dynon, Garmin, Trig, Avidyne) Why You’ll Like Working Here Work with passionate people in the aviation industry Be part of a small, collaborative team where your impact matters Learn highly technical products and grow your aviation knowledge Help customers bring their aircraft projects to life What We Offer At AFS, we believe great work happens when people feel supported. Our benefits package is designed to promote health, financial security, and continued professional growth. • 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year so you can recharge, travel, or take care of life outside of work • 10 paid holidays to spend time with family and friends • 401(k) retirement plan with generous company matching to help you build long-term financial security • Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and AD&D coverage for employees, beginning the first day of the month following hire • Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to help offset the cost of your deductible and reduce out-of-pocket expenses • Training and tuition reimbursement to support continued learning and career advancement Equal Employment Opportunity Advanced Flight Systems is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated with respect and given equal opportunity to succeed.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, or any other legally protected status.
