Job Description
We’re seeking a Special Projects Associate to support our benchmarking and research teams. Applications are rolling.
Applications are open to applicants worldwide, with a preference for those in time zones overlapping North America (UTC‑4/5). The role is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Benchmarking special projects support (≈50%)
• Work closely with the benchmarking lead to find experts for new benchmarks across diverse domains. • Coordinate with experts to meet quality standards and improve their contractor experience. • Organize events such as symposiums to bring field experts together and help create new AI benchmarks. • Learn about and provide support for the myriad tasks that make new benchmarks effective. - Data team special projects support (≈15%)
• Secure and license data for the data center tracking program, ensuring compliance with local regulations. - Other responsibilities (≈30%)
• Handle various operations and external communications tasks, such as owning inboxes for external queries and triaging with the team.
What We Are Looking For
- You avidly follow AI developments, e.g., you know what GPQA Diamond is and can discuss why benchmark saturation matters.
- You are energized by complex challenges, able to take ownership of projects without a playbook, and devise creative solutions.
- You actively seek feedback, incorporate it quickly, and give constructive feedback to others, including supervisors.
- Instinctive organization and conscientiousness; details come naturally.
- Two or more years of prior work experience in roles with many moving parts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort with direct, empathetic communication.
- Comfort with a startup‑like, fast‑moving environment where time is scarce.
- Motivation by Epoch’s mission to improve humanity’s understanding of AI development.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary between $75,000–$100,000 USD, adjusted for experience and location.
- Pay in local currencies based on one‑year average exchange rates.
- Fully remote with flexible hours.
