Job Description
Chemours is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing Technology to join the growing Manufacturing Technology team. This position will be based at the LaPorte, TX site and will report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager.
Responsibilities
- Leading the development of asset management plans and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Providing mechanical engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades, with ownership of improvements.
- Monitoring the process on an ongoing basis to look for both positive and negative shifts, identify improvement opportunities using Uptime Software, Aspen Process Explorer, and statistical process control.
- Ensuring maintenance and reliability work management processes are effectively implemented, utilized, and improved.
- Leading and participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) teams related to Reliability & Safety events.
- Leading failure modes and effects analysis based on equipment type, materials of construction, and operating conditions.
- Identifying critical spares required to deliver the required level of reliability.
- Utilizing Management of Change (MOC) documents as needed to make improvements in the production area.
- Participating in the Design for Reliability, Maintenance, and Inspection (D4RMI) process for new equipment including capital projects.
- Leading or participating in site programs such as vibration monitoring, lubrication analysis, and thermography, as assigned.
- Participate in and lead Process Hazards Analyses for the assigned process.
- Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance Turnarounds or other non-routine needs.
- Travel requirements are <10%.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in working with fixed and/or rotating equipment.
- Understanding maintenance and reliability best practices including the work management process and basic materials science including material selection and properties.
- Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME Piping Codes and API Codes, welding and fabrication processes and repair procedures.
- Familiarization in related fields such as non-destructive testing, welding, fabrication, and working with third party fabricators.
- Familiarization in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Demonstrated ability to perform as an individual contributor.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Strong troubleshooting ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP-PM, SAP-MM, and Maintenance Work Management Systems.
- Familiarity with or certification in national standards such as API 510, API 570, and API 653.
- Experience driving Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation of production systems.
- Exposure to Process Safety Management methodologies.
- Experience in a high-hazard process environment.
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Pay Range
$116,071.00 - $181,361.00
Compensation Details
Chemours Level: 26
Annual Bonus Target: 11%
