Job Description
Overview Weâre seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design, field engineering, and commissioning activities for largeâscale data center projects. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with handsâon field experience and thrives in fastâpaced, missionâcritical environments. Currently we have 3 openings in the following locations: Atlanta, GA/ Cheyenne, WY/ Omaha, NE Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering Leadership Lead the mechanical design of data center systems, including HVAC, chilled water, DX systems, ventilation, and air distribution.
Develop and review mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment selections, and system layouts. Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system optimization for highâefficiency, highâavailability environments. Ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and owner criteria for missionâcritical reliability.
Partner with commissioning professionals throughout project timeline Field Engineering & Construction Support Oversee onsite installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems. Provide technical guidance to contractors, vendors, and field teams to resolve design or installation issues. Conduct site inspections, equipment startâups, and functional performance testing.
Validate that installed systems align with design intent and operational requirements. Project & Stakeholder Coordination Collaborate closely with electrical, controls, and architectural teams to ensure integrated system performance. Interface with clients, facility operators, and project managers to communicate design decisions and field progress.
Support procurement efforts, including equipment evaluations and vendor coordination. Required Qualifications Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on HVAC system design. Demonstrated experience with data centers, missionâcritical facilities, or other highâavailability environments.
Strong understanding of cooling technologies such as CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, economization strategies, and thermal management. Proven ability to work onsite during construction, commissioning, and turnover phases. Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, CFD modeling, or similar platforms.
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
