Job Description
Senior Engineer (Developer III - Software Engineering) We need a Senior Engineer (6+ years) to design and operate enterpriseāgrade Java services with strong observability. Must have deep Splunk/SPL, OpenTelemetry instrumentation, Kubernetes/cloud experience, and handsāon SRE practices (SLOs, incident response, postmortems). Prefer experience with Terraform, Kafka, and JVM tuning.
Responsibilities Standardize telemetry, build actionable dashboards, reduce noise, and improve availability/performance. Infrastructure automation using Terraform, Helm, or similar tools. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications 7+ years professional software engineering experience, primarily in Java (8/11/17), Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, and asynchronous messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS). Strong Splunk expertise: data onboarding, parsing (props/transforms), SPL queries, dashboards, notables, and performance tuning; familiarity with ES/ITSI is a plus. Solid grounding in observability stacks: metrics (Grafana, Prometheus/OpenMetrics), tracing, logging (structured JSON, ECS conventions).
Proven experience operating distributed systems at scale in cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) with container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE). Handsāon with SRE fundamentals: SLI/SLO design, error budgets, incident management, postmortems, runbook creation, and toil reduction via automation. Proficiency in CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, KOB, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Helm).
Datastores: PostgreSQL/MySQL, Redis, Cassandra, ELK, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence crossāfunctional teams. Experience in .NET applications, Python, AI, etc. will be an added advantage.
Master's degree in softwareārelated subjects. Handsāon experience with Docker and containerization best practices. Strong expertise in Kubernetes on Bare Metal (KOB).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins). Strong understanding of application and infrastructure security. Experience implementing API security (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, RBAC).
Familiarity with container and Kubernetes security best practices. Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, vulnerability scanning, and secure coding standards. Ability to collaborate with security teams on compliance and risk mitigation.
Strong problemāsolving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a global delivery environment. Customerācentric mindset with ownership and accountability.
Demonstrated alignment with positive values, culture, and ethical standards. Experience working in largeāscale enterprise or regulated environments. Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) alongside onāprem/bareāmetal deployments.
Knowledge of service mesh, API gateways, or zeroātrust architecture. Experience with SRE practices, SLAs/SLOs, and reliability engineering. Proficiency in project management tools like JIRA, ServiceNow.
Ability to manage, motivate, and direct crossāfunctional teams effectively. Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Flexibility to adapt to challenges and work in periods of ambiguity, converting them into structured direction.
Typically requires 10+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Master's degree or PhD in computer science or Data Science or AI related fields.
