Job Description
Location: Ottawa, Canada. Office based work - 3 days required. About the Opportunity Wind River Systems is seeking a high-performing, highly skilled team software engineer for a team developing automated tests to validate safety-critical embedded real-time operating systems and embedded virtualization solutions.
The purpose of this role is to lead the team, organize its work, help the team follow the development process including agile methodologies, deliver on its commitments with technical contributions, and interface with engineering management and technical authority on timeline and deliverables. Responsibilities Learn about and research new product features Develop end-to-end automated tests to exercise those new features Maintain the existing automated test suite and triage issues Add automation coverage for new hardware and peripherals as needed Mentor junior members of the team Develop new test plans and test strategies Perform manual tests as necessary Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team Contribute to the teamβs deliverables Qualifications BSc or higher degree (Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, or other STEM field) or equivalent work experience 6+ years of software development experience Solid understanding of software development methodology, including Agile Solid understanding of test methodology Solid understanding of Python Familiarity with test automation frameworks such as pytest Strong knowledge of Linux Highly competent in C and shell scripting Strong software architecture skills Containerization experience Knowledge of security practices and principles is a plus Only Canadian Citizenship Required Core Competencies and Demonstrated Success Ability to work well in a team Strong technical leadership skills Good time-management skills Great interpersonal and communication skills Strong documentation and writing skills Familiarity with software configuration management tools, preferably git and Bitbucket Familiarity with defect tracking tools, preferably Jira It will be great if you also have: Familiarity with Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, Travis CI, etc.) Knowledge of DO-178B/C certification standard and certification experience Benefits Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid Work β 3 days in the office per week Company-sponsored health, dental, and life insurance Income protection through short and long-term disability coverage Matching RRSP Vacation and various time off policies to encourage work-life balance Well-being programs: Employee assistance program, mental well-being through Unmind Learning benefits: LinkedIn Learning subscription and seminars Aptiv is an equal employment opportunity employer.
