Overview Job Title: Senior Director of Development Location: Washington, DC (DMV Area) - Hybrid Industry: Nonprofit | Health & Life Sciences | Professional Association Pay: $170,000 โ $190,000/yr DOE Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision and 401K Job Description Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Director of Development will serve as the top fundraising leader for the Foundation. This person will own the full development function โ setting strategy, managing a dedicated team, and driving diversified philanthropic revenue growth across major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, and individual giving. Close collaboration with executive leadership and the Board is central to the role.
Key Responsibilities Design and execute a multi-year fundraising strategy spanning the full donor lifecycle โ identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Build and grow revenue streams across major gifts, individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and mission-aligned sponsorships Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing development team with clear goals and accountability Establish KPIs, pipeline metrics, and reporting cadences that drive transparency and performance Cultivate and steward relationships with corporate, institutional, and individual funders alongside executive leadership Build a sophisticated major gifts program with a structured pipeline and disciplined relationship management Oversee a diversified grant portfolio including corporate-supported education, workforce development, and research funding Partner cross-functionally with Membership, Marketing, Communications, and Events teams to maximize donor engagement Qualifications 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit, healthcare, or association environment Proven track record closing major gifts ($25Kโ$1M+) and securing institutional grants ($500K+) Experience building donor pipelines and leading development teams Strong executive presence; comfortable engaging Board members and senior stakeholders Additional Details Manages a team of development professionals across grants, corporate partnerships, and individual giving Travel: Up to 20% annually for key conferences and organizational events Perks Competitive salary Hybrid and flexible work arrangements Mission-driven culture with strong values around inclusion, collaboration, and staff development Equal Opportunity Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
