Senior Analog Design Engineer (Ottawa)

Responsibilities Lead design of advanced high‑speed analog circuits in deep‑submicron CMOS technologies, including DAC/ADC SERDES, optical‑line‑facing circuits, PLLs, transimpedance amplifiers, modulator drivers, and precision control circuits.

Perform feasibility studies, recommend optimal topologies, and collaborate with system groups to shape requirement specifications. Own full design cycle of assigned analog blocks, working with layout team and junior designers, deliver complete GDSII files for integration. Provide status updates, participate in team meetings, and share experience.

Characterize circuits in Ciena’s lab from test chips to full product implementation with the Analog Macro Integration team. Qualifications BEng/BSc, MEng/MSc, or Ph.D. in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related scientific field. Minimum 5 years of industrial experience leading analogue designs in advanced CMOS technology.

Strong problem‑solving, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with Cadence, Mentor, Synopsys tools (Virtuoso, Calibre, STAR‑RC, MMSIM). Track record of successful analog circuit product deliveries.

Preferred Assets Experience with 2.5D/3D E‑M tools such as HFSS or EMX. Team‑leadership within an analog macro design group. Architecture or system design experience for complex analog macro IP solutions (e.g., using MATLAB).

Lab and/or C++ experience with mixed‑signal design validation and state‑of‑the‑art test equipment. Salary & Benefits Annual salary range: $114,000 - $182,000 CAD. Additional discretionary incentive bonus for non‑sales employees.
