Smart Road Technology (SRT), a division of CMES, Inc., is expandingand were looking for a Project Engineer with DOT experience in ITS, traffic signals, or highway lighting to help deliver critical infrastructure across Metro Atlanta and the Southeast. We are seeking to add an experienced Project Engineer to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the heavy highway, roadside construction industry. This is a fulltime position located in Norcross, GA. The basic function of the Project Engineer for CMES, Inc. will be primarily responsible for assisting Project Manager as required by the current work in the structures division split between estimating and operations.
This position requires experience, organization, and initiative. Primary responsibility: Assist Project Manager as required by the current work in the structures division split between estimating and operations. In estimating, primarily preparing quantity takeoffs with Bluebeam software or manually, estimate setup in Heavy Bid software, preparing bid documents, and communicating with subcontractors for quotations.
In operations, preparing profiles, cross sections, and other various drawings as needed; communicating with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to issue POs and subcontracts; coordinating materials as per field requirements; preparing RFI, change orders, or submittals; verify and submit completed work quantities; and work with superintendent to resolve onsite field issues. Will need to be ready and willing to have boots on the ground as required by the needs of the projects. Experience 3+ years of Project Engineer experience in DOT or heavy civil construction, but general construction experience will be taken into consideration as well.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: REQUIRED: ITS, Traffic Signal, or Highway Lighting experience Strong understanding of GDOT standards and roadway projects Ability to read and interpret civil and electrical plans to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints (Preferably roadway plans). Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
