Location Edmonton / Calgary / GTA Position Overview Willowglen Systems is a leading industrial automation company seeking a Project Coordinator (Project Engineer). The role is responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight to ensure integrated, compliant, and operable solutions across design, interface management, commissioning, and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities Define technical scope in collaboration with Solutions Architects, PM, and SMEs; select design solutions spanning electrical, automation, power, instrumentation, and control systems.

Manage interface with other disciplines; build and maintain relationships with clients and vendors; ensure system‑level and subsystem‑level interfaces are defined and managed. Supervise internal and external resources on detailed design, installation, and commissioning activities. Provide oversight, direction, review, and approval for technical documents such as statements of work, specifications, datasheets, drawings, test plans, etc.; ensure deliverables comply with project standards.

Oversee pre‑commissioning, functional and performance testing; approve FAT/SAT procedures and evidence packs; confirm readiness for operator training and handover. Track progress against schedule and deliverables; resolve technical/logistical issues during design, procurement, installation, commissioning; provide updates to PM and Engineering Managers; report risks, issues, and mitigation plans. Qualifications B.Sc./B.A.Sc. or equivalent engineering degree. 5–10 years of experience in Project Engineering, Work Package Leadership, or Owner Engineer roles.

Professional Engineering designation (PEO preferred or eligible for registration in Ontario). Experience with system integration and commissioning in industrial automation, transportation, or similar sectors; proven use of IEC15288 Systems Engineering framework. Experience with standards such as CENELEC, IEC, ULC, CSA, Electrical Code, etc.; familiarity with interface management and requirements tracking.

Proven ability to oversee testing and commissioning activities; knowledge of quality management principles and documentation practices. Robust coordination, leadership, communication, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills. Other Requirements Familiarity with PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms.

Understanding of PMI standards and processes. Knowledge of industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP). Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) for reviewing design packages.

Experience in IT, cybersecurity, and cybersecurity for control systems (IEC62443) considered an asset. Ability to review and approve commissioning documentation, operator training materials, and engineering deliverables such as instrument lists, I/O and cable schedules, termination diagrams, hook‑up and layout drawings, loop diagrams, and test procedures. Understanding of functional safety and quality assurance frameworks.
