Principal Test Engineer

Job Description
We are a fabless semiconductor company creating cutting‑edge ICs for optical communications, and we’re looking for an experienced mixed‑signal test engineer. You will own production test development and characterization, collaborating closely with IC design, product engineering, and reliability engineering. This is a highly cross‑functional role with a direct impact on product quality, cost, and time‑to‑market.
Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end wafer‑level test program development on the NI STS platform for laser drivers and transimpedance amplifiers. Define test coverage strategies, probe card requirements, and DFT/DFM guidelines in partnership with IC design teams. Develop and optimize parametric test flows for key RF specs: compression, noise, and S‑parameters.
Establish correlations between bench characterization and production ATE results; identify and close test escapes. Author test plans, test method documentation, and acceptance criteria; ensure compliance with quality and reliability requirements. Mentor junior and mid‑level test engineers; contribute to team‑wide best practices and reusable test IP.
Develop procedures, requirements, and best practices. Build production test and characterization software infrastructure. Required Qualifications 10+ years of mixed signal ATE test engineering experience.
Strong understanding of RF test fundamentals: vector network analysis, spectrum analysis, noise figure, and linearity. Experience with wafer probe processes, probe card technologies (cantilever, vertical, MEM‑style), and prober integration. Demonstrated ability to drive yield improvement through statistical analysis, binning strategy, and guardbanding.
Demonstrated history of driving production test quality and efficiency improvements. Familiarity with mixed‑signal DFT techniques (BIST, boundary scan, on‑chip calibration) and their ATE implications. Strong programming skills in Python or similar for data analysis, yield trending, and test automation scripting.
Experience writing automation software and applications in Microsoft .NET. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with the NI Semiconductor Test System (STS) and TestStand/LabVIEW‑based test program development. Experience with the Keysight PNA series of network analyzers.
Background at a fabless company or startup environment where you’ve worn multiple hats. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without employer sponsorship. #J-18808-Ljbffr
