Description Employer: Amazon Web Services, Inc. Position: Principal Software Development Engineer (multiple positions available) AMZ13289.8 Location: Seattle, WA Independently lead software delivery across an organization as an individual contributor. Deliver architectures consisting of multiple software systems spanning the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance strategy.

Drive clarity and review the work of other engineers to ensure cohesive delivery. Serve as a technical leader on demanding, cross‑functional projects. Decompose complex problems into simple, straight‑forward solutions, fully understanding system inter‑dependencies and limitations.

Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices. Mentor individuals and the wider community on advanced technical issues, guiding managers in career development of team members. Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing productivity and effectiveness through deep knowledge sharing.

Balance technical leadership and business judgment to make sound technology decisions. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required. Basic Qualifications Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation.

Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation. At least 1 year of experience providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. At least 1 year of experience designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services using Object‑Oriented Design and distributed programming in C#, C++, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications All applicants must meet all the above‑listed requirements. Compensation The pay range for this position in Seattle, WA is $212,202 to $270,600 per year. Base pay varies based on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
