We are seeking a talented, highly motivated, and resultsâdriven Principal Controls Engineer with deep expertise in advanced control system design for data center applications. This role combines systemâlevel control architecture, robust control engineering, advanced optimal control, and handsâon commissioning leadership to ensure high availability, stability, and energyâefficient performance in dynamic, highâdensity thermal environments.
As a technical leader, you will define scalable control architectures, drive predictive and optimizationâbased strategies, and mentor engineering teams across global programs. This position requires ownership across the full product lifecycle â from concept and architecture definition through validation, deployment, commissioning, and continuous improvement, and to do so in close collaboration with product design teams. This role is fully onsite. The selected candidate will work daily from one of the following primary locations: (Location details omitted). Key Job Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and delivery of robust, production-ready control solutions for data center platforms by ensuring compliance with customer and technical requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
Define scalable control architecture for data center HVAC platforms, including chillers, cooling plants, fan coil units, liquid cooling solutions, and supervisory plant controllers. Lead the design and development of advanced control strategies that optimize performance, energy efficiency, and system robustness, including supervisory optimal control, model predictive control, robust and adaptive control, faultâtolerance control, etc. Lead decomposition of systemâlevel requirements into control functional specifications.
Support the development and calibration of physicsâbased plant models. Utilize models for design exploration, control system analysis, verification, and validation. Support systemâlevel commissioning activities, including startup strategy definition, control sequence validation, and tuning in real operating environments.
Drive project execution by setting clear technical goals, managing timelines, and coordinating teams. Mitigate risks, align stakeholders, and ensure onâtime, highâquality delivery. Required Qualifications Master of Science in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering. 15+ years of advanced controls system experience.
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 3 times per year. #J-18808-Ljbffr
