Principal Drainage Engineer - Transport Engineering

Responsibilities Lead the delivery of complex drainage projects, including Sc104 and Sc278 Drainage Schemes. Plan and deliver drainage feasibility studies, drainage strategies, and flood risk assessments. Act as project manager for infrastructure projects, managing procurement and specification writing.

Provide business development support by developing proposals and winning new work. Mentor and coach early‑career engineers and support senior staff across the organisation. Contribute to the strategic direction, planning and development of the Transport Engineering team.

Work collaboratively with other SLR disciplines including Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water, and Environmental Specialist Services. Travel across the UK and Europe as required for client engagements. Qualifications Solid track record managing projects and teams on UK highways and infrastructure projects.

Proven business development capabilities and ability to manage high‑level client relationships. Strong leadership, project management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with UK engineering guidance, hydraulic design standards and processes.

Experience working on hydraulic feasibility studies, detailed drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and Sc104 detailed design. Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers or a similar professional body. Full, current UK driving licence.
