The Opportunity You’ll join a highly capable engineering team responsible for mission-critical backend systems that power large-scale data analysis and internet intelligence services. A core part of the role will be maintaining, optimising, and evolving existing platforms , with a strong focus on: Reliability Performance Stability Security There’s also opportunity to contribute to incremental modernisation , working with technologies like Go and TypeScript - but the heart of this role is engineering ownership, not constant rebuilds . What You’ll Be Doing Owning and improving production backend systems Enhancing and maintaining legacy platforms (Perl-based) Diagnosing and resolving performance and scaling bottlenecks Driving system reliability and incident prevention Writing clean, well-tested, well-documented code Collaborating across engineering teams to ensure seamless integrations Identifying long-term improvements rather than quick fixes
