Node.js Developer

Role: Node.js Developer Rate: £450–£500 per day (Inside IR35) Location: Remote with ad-hoc travel to HQ in Newcastle (1–2 times per quarter) Terms: 6-month contract + extension We are currently supporting a client within the accounting software space who is undertaking a major platform evolution of their accounts service. As part of this initiative, they are migrating from an existing API microservice architecture to a new, modern Node.js-based microservices environment. The project is currently in the design and architecture phase, and the team is looking to bring in a Node.js Developer who can contribute to technical decision-making, architecture discussions, and hands-on development as the new platform is built and rolled out.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced developer who enjoys working on backend systems, influencing architectural direction, and building scalable, cloud-native services. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the design and architecture of a new microservices-based platform Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js Support the migration from legacy API microservices to a modern architecture Work closely with architects and technical leads to shape system design Deliver high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle Required Skills & Experience Strong Node.js development experience in enterprise environments Proven experience working with AWS (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, etc.) Experience contributing to system design and architecture discussions Strong experience building and working with APIs and microservices Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables Strong problem-solving and communication skills Desirable Experience Experience with platform migrations or microservices transformations Exposure to modern cloud-native architectures Experience within financial or accounting software environments If you’re looking for an opportunity to work on a large-scale backend transformation within a well-established product environment, apply today!
