Job Description The AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking a Mechanical Technologist to join our Ottawa, Ontario based team in a newly created position. AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include Transit, Municipal, Commercial, Institutional, Justice, Education and Government projects.

Major Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below: Conduct drafting/3D BIM for mechanical systems Prepare finished design drawings from sketches, notes, and details Assist with engineering calculations, coordination with other disciplines and preparing preliminary equipment lists with an engineer and/or equipment supplier Support the preparation of specifications and maintain project documentation including quality review documentation Support packages preparation and submission Monitor and document conformance with quality, performance, safety, and code requirements Understand procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines Work in engineering project collaboration software platforms (ProjectWise, BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud) Self‑check drawings for quality assurance Support field inspection and construction administration Work in a team‑based environment coordinating with colleagues in different disciplines and offices Perform responsibilities under limited supervision Work both in office and field settings Minimum Requirements College diploma in Engineering Technology + 4 (four) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Proficient in 3D Revit/BIM drafting Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered Preferred Qualifications EIT, C.Tech or CET designation, or working toward certification Able to develop and advance drawings from conceptual to detailed design stage Good written and oral communication skills Familiar with autoCAD 2015 or later and Autodesk Revit Family/BIM Software Familiar with Ontario building code, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, NFPA 13, and other relevant design standards Additional Information Relocation is not available for this position.
