Location and Reporting Located in our Calgary office, the individual in the Manager, Tax role will report to the Director, Tax.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the tax function in Canada. This position ensures accurate recordâkeeping, developing efficient practices, tax strategies and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely filing of income tax returns, estimated payments, annual report filings and accurate reporting in the financial statements. You will collaborate with crossâfunctional teams to enhance financial performance, optimise processes, and lead key business initiatives.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax laws, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external advisors. Responsibilities Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of Canadian corporate tax returns, partnership filings, foreign reporting, and all required elections. Coordinate the preparation and review of the incomeâtax provision, including IFRS disclosures and supporting working papers.
Research and analyse complex tax issues to provide timely and accurate solutions to the business. Manage tax forecasting processes and identify strategic taxâplanning activities. Assist with taxârelated projects including financing and M&A tax due diligence.
Maintain tax calculations for surplus, EIFEL, Pillar II, safe income and ACB. Manage incomeâtax audits, including review and coordination of data collection, analysis and communication between tax personnel and tax authorities or external consultants. Effectively communicate data and findings to important decision makers and stakeholders to drive strategic business decisions.
Qualifications Bachelorâs degree in accounting, finance or related field. Completion of CPA InâDepth Tax Program. Minimum 7â10 years of postâqualificationârelated experience; industry experience is an asset.
Prior managerial or supervisory experience. Strong technical knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Selfâmotivated, organised and able to manage multiple priorities. Team player and willing to learn and continuously improve. Demonstrated expertise in crossâborder tax compliance for Canadian and U.S. entities.
Proven ability to design, implement and document tax compliance processes and controls. Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail. Strong Excel skills required; experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx) is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits Salary: $145,000 - $153,000 annually (based on skills, experience, qualifications, and geography).
