Manager, Software Development, SCOT Automated Inventory Management (AIM) We are looking for a Software Development Manager to join the Automated Inventory Management Team. As a leader of the team you will have the opportunity to work with complex algorithms, distributed computing technology, and bigâdata environments to build highly scalable services that manage inventory plans for millions of items on Amazon.com. In this role you will lead a highâperforming team of engineers, make key technology decisions, oversee design and architecture, and ensure that systems are reliable, secure, and fastâacting.
You will be responsible for setting the longâterm strategy for settlement platforms, managing teams, justifying resources, and collaborating with senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of worldâclass software engineers and technical program managers. Make design decisions related to product features and technology choices.
Develop and execute the longâterm strategy for settlement platforms and translate it into an achievable roadmap. Build and manage teams that design and deliver scalable, extensible distributed systems to address complex business challenges. Scope and justify resources and budget needs to senior leaders and finance partners.
Maintain a consistent focus on operational excellence and system security. Collaborate with product, program management, and other stakeholders to collect requirements and describe software product features and technical designs. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of engineering experience 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multiâtier web services Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and liveâsite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) Preferred Qualifications Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and product delivery effectiveness Expertise with distributed computing technologies, designing scalable, lowâlatency, highâthroughput, faultâtolerant systems dealing with realâtime data Deep understanding of overall systems development life cycle, including agile, waterfall, and iterative methodologies Experience with openâsource technologies, objectâoriented design, and agile development methodologies Consistent focus on operational excellence and security of systems Experience building and managing teams that design and deliver scalable and extensible distributed systems Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
